Welcome To My BLOG

Follow the Pilgrim (Part 7)

Welcome to my new blog. The main theme is the same, hiking cross a country, but this time, it's cross Norway. Even though I am from Denmark, I am used to hiking in warm countries like Spain, France, Italy, Colombia, Mexico, the USA, and of course in Denmark when I am home.

This time, my plan is to walk across Norway, and I feel that I need to prepare way better than usual. I have been In Norway five times, and I also hiked in the mountains, so I know a little what to expect. I have never been more south than Oslo, but this time I want to go way up north.

Follow my preparations

Well, I have this rule when I hike, that I am off the grid. I once tried to bring my new smartphone with free data in Portugal, and even though I don't want to use it, it is almost inevitable. I bring it for safety and GPS, and nothing more.... Maybe some pictures, but there I prefer my old school camera.

I have started my training early this time because I want to hike at least 50 kilometers every day. Yeah, that is a lot, but I guess there is space to be lonely in Norway, hike a lot and not drinks so many beers as I usually do.

I am going to visit my good friend Odd on the way, where I want to order some fitness gear from https://billigfitness.no so we can train together. He could use some exercise too.

Will finish my blog when I get back

Hopefully, I will come back to Denmark and have experienced the northern light. I have seen pictures of it, looks beautiful, but I heard it is something totally different to see it in real life.

I don't know about that, but I am sure, if I managed to cross Norway, I have something else to tell my grandkids about... if I ever get any... haha....

So it begins...

Another reason why I train so hard this time is, that I am training to become an ultrarunner. The goal is to be one of the best in Denmark, and the best place in Scandinavia to train for an ultra is in Norway.

It is like Norwegians are made of something different than Denmark and Sweden when it comes to endurance. Not that they are better in sport in general, but I think it has something to do with, their national sport, cross country skiing. I am going cross Norway to learn some more about their endurance skills, while I am going to experience their beautiful raw nature that we envy so much from Denmark.

Hopefully, I will make some more updates before I leave - otherwise - I have at least started my blog this time. It took two years before I made my first blogpost when I crossed Colombia. But not this time haha. Thanks for reading.
